  1. I've never had the icon pop up on my system tray but I also didn't know about it (despite owning a PC for over 10 years) so it's not a silly question.
  2. I would say yes as my experience of drive imaging software is that to restore the image you need the same size or larger hard drive never smaller. In some cases there are compression routines but I've never tried using them so I'm not sure to be honest.
  3. I don't think that the Police should become entangled in politics personally.
  4. I vote when local elections and general elections are held but I'm not bothering to vote for Police Commissioners, what a waste of time.
  5. Thanks guys all sorted now. I think I could also have done it using MSCONFIG > BOOT
  6. Hello Gandalph. I hope you are right about the Olympics generating revenue for the UK economy as it certainly needs it as we are in a double dip recession.
  7. I have a spare 64 bit PC and I accidentally installed the 32 bit version of Windows 7 on it (although the installation didn't complete due to a read/write error) but have now successfully installed the 64 bit version. The hard drive itself has been wiped of the failed installation but I still have the defunct entry on boot up on the dual boot screen. Does anyone know a safe way of deleting the unwanted entry ? I want to get rid of it because both entries are listed as 'Windows 7' and so it's confusing and if I accidentally select the wrong entry, I get an error message ! Cheers.
  8. Very true about the European countries voting for each other ! Talking of not being able to afford venues whilst in a recession, the Olympics is even more expensive to host.
  9. Not so much a cover up as failing to answer the question posed  Back on topic, I can't stand the Eurovision either and the only time I liked it was ages ago when Abba won it with their excellent Waterloo song.
  10. Nice to see you as well John. By the way, I didn't know that GHOST stood for General Hardware-Oriented System Transfer !
  11. I think you are referring to PowerQuest Drive Image which I used to use before Symantec bought it and, although I use Norton Ghost, I don't rate it as good. On a few occasions, Norton Ghost has failed where as Drive Image never did in all the years I was using it !

  13. I bank with Cahoot and, as a security precaution, I was advised to download and install it. After a few weeks I ditched it as it was slowing my browser down to a crawl. It was quite difficult to uninstall too !
  14. Update: Mine is all metal (grey) so that explains it
  15. I think the above means that my ipod nano isn't affected and just as well as it can take up to 6 weeks to get the replacement sent back ! My ipod nano is a 4GB model and the one illustrated on the link is only a 1 GB model and so my ipod is probably second generation not first generation ?
  16. A few weeks ago I got hit by a trojan which installed ransomware where I was asked to pay to release my computer. Kaspersky sorted it out and cleaned my PC, although in the worse case scenario, I could have restored a backup image.
  17. Really? That would be interesting to know. I wonder if David is referring to the fact that 64 bit processors can handle data in 32 or 64 bit data chunks so in some calculations the processor can operate faster ?
  18. I rebooted the PC and the desktop icon has gone now ! RESOLVED.
  19. No pops Google Chrome wasn't in Add/Remove which is a tad worrying as I have never installed it ! Perhaps I accidentally elected to install it when installing a Google related utility like Google Earth for example ? Anyway I did what you suggested and installed it and then rebooted the PC and then rebooted it and uninstalled Google Chrome and now the Quick Launch icon is gone but the desktop icon refuses to go to the recycle bin ! I'll reboot the PC when I've finished downloading a file and see if the error goes away and allows me to delete the desktop icon. Thanks for your help.
  20. I don't know how it's happened as I have never installed Google Chrome but for some reason it is showing in the Quick Launch bar (below): Any idea how I can get rid of the icon ? Cheers for any advice.

I went on to the Sky Sports website and chatted online with a customer rep. It's even more expensive than I thought as to transfer my broadband and phone to Sky along with Sky Sports, I would have to take out an associated TV package taking the cost to £52 a month which is almost double what I'm paying now for my broadband and phone with O2 at £27.75 a month :( As much as I like F1, I don't think it's worth an additional £25 a month and don't forget that if I subscribed, I wouldn't be watching the cricket, rugby or football matches. There should be a budget version for motorheads like me :D

In the post-race interview, Hamilton said that he asked for slick tyres and was blaming the in-car radio saying that it was playing up ! Anyway, next season we won't be able to see all of the races live only half of them (10 races out of 20) as Sky has outbid the BBC for the exclusive rights :( We can still see the other 10 races but they will be pre-recorded and we will only see the highlights. />http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9550930.stm I'm not paying over £30 a month for Sky Sports when all I would watch was F1 as I'm not into cricket, rugby or football.

I have to disagree as since KERS and DRS have been introduced, there is more opportunity to see overtaking.
  24. That is the problem - there are too many members who pop in occasionally to see what is going on - but don't post anything because there is little to read or respond to. I used to start new threads at least 2 or 3 times every day - but they attracted fewer and fewer responses so I gave up. People, who like me, now only pop in from time to time but don't post anything are part of the problem - if everyone exhibits the same apathy the forum will surely die. I admit that I now only pop in occasionally to make sure I don't miss the funeral - of this forum. I think part of the problem is that over the years computers have become more and more reliable and so you tend to see less computer problems on forums generally. This only leaves chit chat or discussions on subjects like politics and religion which is a a definite 'no' here as the threads tend to become heated and either get deleted or locked. Now you come to mention it, what you say is true.
  25. Agreed. So on average that's only 4 posts a day :(
