  1. Hi, I have a laptop with Windows 8.1 I play a number of games which require internet connection, when playing a game and my charger is not plugged in after a while I will loose connection to the internet. I then try to disconnect and reconnect to the internet however when I try to reconnect the laptop freezes to a point where I am forced to reboot the PC. Does anyone have a similar problem/solution to this, I don't mind having my charger in all the time but I don't really want to discharge my battery so quickly. This problem never occurs when my Charger is plugged in. thanks, Abid Patel.
  2. There is a Windows SBS Standard 2011 running in school. Whenever more than 10 pcs connect to internet there is someone that gets disconnected and needs to reconnect. It is problematic because there are more than 10 children in class so it is next to impossible to carry out a lesson properly. Are there any restrictions inside this version of Windows Server that might be the reason of this?
  3. Trying to get online on my PC after work, no program that required internet connectivity, IE, Chrome, different video games, would work. Check modem and router, rebooted bout a couple times, checked cabling, cables are good. The PC seems to see the network cable when it's hooked up, however I'm still unable to connect to anything requiring the internet. WiFi works, same ethernet cable thats in the PC i removed and plugged into my laptop, with wireless turned off, and can surf fine so it's not a cabling splice or split issue. Device manager states theres no malfunctions with the NIC, have made no changes to firewall settings. Not real sure what else to do. Just get home, yesterday no issues, today can't get online. Running out of ideas to troubleshoot. Any help would be most appreciated. Modem & Router connectivity: Windows XP: TWC provider: No upgrades to software or hardware recently. Was working fine yesterday, today not so much.
  4. Hi friends, I'm using a d-link dap-1155 wifi router and have a cable internet with static ip, gateway, etc. so the problem is that i can't connect to my wifi with more than one device at the same time, as i have given the ip to the connecting devices, not to the wifi router itself, so i'm getting an ip conflict when connecting with, let's say, my iPad (when the laptop is already connected). Does anyone use this wifi device ? Please, help me to assign the ip to the router so i can connect to it from other devices with "get ip automatically" option. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi to All, I am Paolo Rossi, new prospect user of Windows 8. I am thinking about founding an e-commerce website and company in Italy and I believe that Windows has a good platform concerning integrated system through tablet and smartphone with Windows 8. I think to buy a Surface RT (because the Pro version is not avaliable yet in Italy), and 3 Lumia 620. I know that all of them have Windows 8, and I would like to know if is a good solution for an integrated platform. I need a shared telephone book, customer contact list, cloud documents folders and other possible and useful shared services. Am I able to set up the integrated system on my own? Is necessary to have only a Windows user on all the devices or I can set 4 different users integrated with all the one super user? Can you advice me and confirm that I am doing a good start with Windows? :) Thanks to All! Paolo
  6. Hey, just want to ask. I was doubt on fixing my You Tube buffering that always makes me pissed off everytime i wanted to watch online video. So heres the problem. I was watching one of You tube video and the buffering indicator are not moving. Even i had my internet speed flows really well (2 MBPS, so there gonna be unbuffering video i guess). Anyway, the wifi are only i use for my selft. The weird part of the video is, when i resume the video again, the grey buffering indicator are also run. But when i pause it, the gey indicator also being pause. Sometimes it just stuck somewhere in there. I just try to 'Ping Of Death' the server, to make sure the data pass without stuck, but the problem seems still. I also clear the cache like you tube help refer, but stull have the same problem. So, anybody?
  7. Hey, just wanna ask. I have doubt on this topic since i have my own broadband in my house. Here are the question: -As we can see, how many days or hours we can use the broadband data volume for 1GB(REGULAR VOLUME) and 20GB(HARDCORE VOLUME)? Ok, i would like to list somethiing i would like to do when i surf the web (NO ADULT SITE) 1)Facebook-->Recently, i just like to open it up just to check the notification and any news ahead. Also, i used to leave it still on9 as i go to other website. I open up the FB inestimated time about 6 hours (from 8pm to 1am) 2)You Tube--> I am also have my own you tube channel (Cursethephobia Kaban) and i recently go to this website. I used to watch videos in here and assemble my channel. I would watch about 8 to 14 videos in time with the video duration about 5 to 20 minutes. I also open this webpage as same duration as facebook. As my you tube close, the faceook also close. Then i go to sleep or whatever. 3)On the other website such as google, yahoo mail, Gmail, Y8, Y3 or else, i used to open up the page estimated in 7 to 13 time. I just guess. But that would not take much data volume i guess. 4)I also have torrent. Recently, i download many stuff with that. I would not use the torrent until the data volume had been used up and the speed become throlite (between 50kbps to 150 kbps) and let the 'snail speed' slowly download my torrent. But if i use the remaining data volume, IS THAT SAFE ENOUGH? please reply so tell me how many hours did i have for this type of data volume. Thank you. Next question also still doubt me. Also, i beg ya all to answer it for me. I would try anything. Thank you again. Ok, last question, i also had my PC expert advice (I DON'T REMEMBER HIS NAME), he tell me that, i can bypass the throlite speed if the data volume had been used up all of it using VPN(Virtual Private Network). Yes, i see many forums and many of them recomended using VPN to ensure your browsing experience runs normal. I have been tried it before, but i still don't confident about it. So, is that true usng VPN can bypass the throlite speed?
  8. Hey, just want to ask before i do. -I just know that, if we all use the VPN software and run in along side our computer, does it really give a normal internet connection if the data volume or qouta had been used all? You know, when your data volume of qouta had been used all of them, the internet speed will be throlite untile the very slowest internet speed. I had gone to other forum about VPN (Virtual Private Network), they suggest me many VPN software like CyberGhost, HotSpot Shield, Its Hidden, and many more. But some of them are paid and some of them are not. I have choose HotSpot Shield to be my VPN system. I have use someking of unlimited qouta broadband of my friend when i post this thread. Soon, i will give a try on my qouta broadband that i have bought. If these VPN do not throlite the speed of the internet after all of the data volume had been finished off, tell me if it's works. Thanks!
  9. A couple of weeks ago I installed Windows 8 (fresh install from scratch, not an update) on my computer. I do a lot of web browsing and over the last couple of weeks I've been using Windows 8, I could swear the web browsing wasn't as fast at it used to be on Windows 7. I then noticed I was having major issues bringing up my router's control panel (ASUS RT-N56U) so thinking it was my router I upgraded the firmware. Turned out, the Avast Anti-Virus I was running has issues with Windows 8. I removed AVAST and turned on Windows Defender (which in Windows 8 is also an anti-virus program now referred to MSE - Miscrosoft Security Essentials). MSE has gotten fairly good reviews so I decided to use it, for maximum compatibility with Windows 8. However, although the router control panel would now come up okay, browsing still seemed to not be quite as fast as it used to be. I sat down at the old 5-year old Dell Desktop next to me that is running Windows 7, both computers were connected to the router via Gigabit Ethernet. I tested network speeds with Speedtest.net to make sure they were both getting the same Internet speeds (which they were.) I found a couple 'heavy' web pages to test: www.epicurious.com (home page) sports.yahoo.com (home page) The browsing was MUCH faster on the Windows 7 machine!! So I decided to do more of a controlled test. The Samsung Notebook is a Series 6 Core i5 with 6GB RAM and 64GB SSD running Win 8 Pro 64-bit. Windows Experience score of 5.9. Windows Defender (MSE) Anti-Virus. Windows Firewall Turned OFF! The Dell Desktop is Intel Q8200 with 6GB RAM and a 5400RPM HD running Win 7 32-bit (not sure why 64-bit didn't install, sort of strange but oh well). It had a Windows Experience score of 3.6. Avast Anti-Virus. Windows Firewall turned OFF. Windows Defender turned OFF. I went into Windows Task Manager on both computers and ended most if not all tasks that were not critical to the system and no other programs except the browsers were running. I removed all plug-ins and add-ons from Chrome except the Page Load Time extension plug-in which can be downloaded here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/page-load-time/fploionmjgeclbkemipmkogoaohcdbig I also tested on FireFox using this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/apptelemetry/?src=search On the Windows 8 Machine I also tested with Internet Explorer 10 - unfortunately I couldn't find a page load speed monitor for it that would work so I could only do an informal visual+verbal count, stopping when I saw the page stop X in the URL bar change to the reload symbol indicating the page had completed loading. On both test pages I refreshed the pages at least 10 times and averaged the scores. I looked at the page load speed monitor result but I also did a visual+verbal count out loud until I saw the page stopped loading objects. The results were astounding (and very frustrating/disappointing because otherwise I really like Windows 8 as the OS in general seems better/faster than Windows 7 for multitasking) Here's the results: Windows 8 + Fast Machine + Chrome 23.0.1271.95 m on epicurious.com: ~ 3.5 sec load counter / ~ 5.5 sec visual/verbal count Windows 7 + Slow Machine + Chrome 23.0.1271.95 m on epicurious.com: ~ 2 sec avg / ~ 3.5 sec avg visual/verbal count Windows 8 Fast machine + Chrome on sports.yahoo.com: 5 sec avg / 5 sec avg Windows 7 Slow machine + Chrome on sports.yahoo.com: 2.5 sec / 3 sec Windows 8 Fast machine + FireFox on epicurious com: 4.5 sec / 4.5 sec Windows 7 Slow machine + Firefox on epicurious.com: 2.5 sec / 3 sec Windows 8 Fast machine + FireFox on sports.yahoo com: 5.25 sec / 5 sec Windows 7 Slow machine + Firefox on sports.yahoo.com: 2.5 sec / 3 sec Windows 8 Fast machine + Internet Explorer 10 on epicurious.com: ~ 5 sec visual/verbal count Windows 8 Fast machine + Internet Explorer 10 on sports.yahoo.com: ~ 6 sec visual/verbal count (I didn't bother testing IE 10 on the Win 7 machine) It is clear, that something in Windows 8 is causing the browsers to load web pages 30-50% slower. If you have a very fast Internet connection (like me - 35 mbit/s download and 6 mbit/s upload) in regular use, the difference may not be that noticeable to the "casual user" as the difference between as a 3 sec and a 5 sec page load speed are both fairly fast for these two sites. But it you have many sites open at once and are multi-tasking and clicking lots of links hours at a time, it IS noticeable. Downright depressing when you compare it to a Windows 7 machine especially considering the specs on the Win 8 machine are much better hardware wise! If anything the Windows 8 machines should be faster. Now I know a some people are going to be skeptical about my findings or give suggestions as to something that may be wrong with my particular PC. Obviously every PC is different, having different configurations, apps loaded, processes running, etc. But in my 25+ years in the Tech Industry my gut is telling me there's something not right with Windows 8 and it is just a matter of time until enough people complain to Microsoft about it to get their attention to find the cause of the issue and fix it. HERE'S A COUPLE IMPORTANT POINTS WHY MY GUT IS TELLING ME IT IS A WINDOWS 8 ISSUE: * I tried the tests on Windows 8 with Windows Defender (MSE) turned OFF, Firewall turned OFF. No anti-virus programs running. IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE. ** I made sure the drivers for both my Ethernet and Wi-Fi Networking were the latest drivers. They are the on-board Intel 82579M Gigabit Ethernet and Centrino 6230 Wireless. *** Running the tests on Wifi instead of Ethernet ALSO MADE NO DIFFERENCE. The facts seem to point to something in the Windows 8 Operating System is slowing things down. I wish I knew what it was as I feel so frustrated that this new powerful Samsung Core i5 notebook running Windows 8 has slower web browsing than than 5-year old Windows 7 Dell Desktop sitting across from me. I have seen many other posts about Chrome running slowly on Windows 8. It isn't just Chrome! *** I would encourage others to run these tests as I would at least like to be 99% confident that I don't have some hardware or driver issue. *** Other's having same issues: />https://productforums.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!topic/chrome/KV_TPd6Ehdg />http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-networking/internet-hangs-unavailable-slow-since-upgrading-to/3406a398-eb16-40aa-b9ee-9ce5ea95f406 />http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2006876 />http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/941163
  10. Here's what I got: Dell Inspiron 1525 Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz RAM 3GB Windows Vista Ultimate sp 1 32-bit Netwok Adapters: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller As of about a few hours ago, and no problems previously I can no longe successfully connect to the internet via wireless or direct connect with the ethernet cable. It recognizes my wireless network, as well as the local area connection; however the red "x" sits between the network and the internet on the network and sharing center screen. And both connections show "local only". Now, to elimate some of the obvious answers, let me state some of the things I've attempted already: 1) I've reset numerously, including a factory reset on the modem/router/wireless router. And, no other computers have a problem getting on the internet via wireless or direct connect ethernet cable. 2) I've checked the ethernet cable I'm using on another compute and it works fine. 3) I've tried just about every cmd entry know including: ipconfig /release ipconfig /all ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /renew netsh int ip set dns netsh winsock reset 4) I've tried pinging the gateway, nothing. 4 sends, 0 repies 5) I've tried manually plugging in all the IPv4 protocols manually; default gateway, DNS, and nothing. Setting it to automatic doesn't do anything either. 6) I've used every repair and diagnose option I could see on windows, nothing. 7) I've checked device manager to see if my network adapters were working properly, and they were, checked for driver updates, none. Uninstalled both devices, then ran a "scan for new hardware" which located them and reinstalled them. Still nothing. 8) Tried different browsers, nothing. 9) Ran an entire "full scan" with Avast, and afterwards still nothing. Had Avast do a boot-time scan. Didn't fix anything. 10) Booted to "safe mode with networking". Still didn't connect. What vexes me is no other machine has an issue connecting to the internet either wirelessly or ethernet connection, and my devices are recognizing a connection, but there are no packets received at all. Please help! I consider myself a fairly savvy individual when it comes to this stuff, but I'm at wits end, and I've been getting nothing but the most captain obvious answers from previous people that I've done over and over again to no avail.
  11. Hello everyone! It started three weeks ago: Every Saturday (and only Saturday) I can't access certain websites (such as MyAnimeList, zerochan, gendou). The first time it lasted around 1 hour, last week almost half the day and today it happened again but lasted only around 2 hours. I really don't know what the problem might be, I also used the Installation DVD but no Errors were shown. I have an iMac and use Firefox but also tried Safari and it didn't work there either. Has anyone any idea what's the cause? Thanks a lot in advance! :)
  12. Hi, I recently had a java virus that seemed to be throttling my internet and causing it to drop out every couple of minutes. I went to bleeping computer and had it resolved. However, my internet is still not working. I try playing an online game and every minute or so I lose connection. What can I do to make my internet work again? I have Windows 7 64bit. Thanks in advance.
  13. My computer cannot connect to the internet. In network sharing center, it shows that the cable is plugged in, but it identifies my home netwok as an unidentified network or public network and doesnt connect. i have tried all the ip config commands in cmd, i have restarted my router and modem, i have pllugged it in straight to the modem, restarted my computer a couple of times, and got nothiing. But I read on a post somewhere to look in my device manager to look for and warnings. There was none on my NIC card, and the driver was up-to-date. But right below it, it had a warning next to VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller so i figure that the driver is out of date. Long story short, is the driver out of date? and if it is, how do i get it on my computer. because i cant download it (doesnt connect to internet) Note: this has happened to me 2 time before. I took it in and the idiot there said it was heat (it wasnt) and a week ago. so i got a new NIC because thats what the idiot guy did and it worked for a while. Note 2: The NIC card a 1 week old TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI Gigabit Network Adapter drivers are updated.
