Using AutoStreamer

I have no experience with DELL CD's but I'm geussing it's a restore CD?[but not an XP CD as such]

If so then you can not use the Autostreamer Folder.

As far as I know AS looks and copies several files and one important folder, if they are not present, in the way AS recognises them then you cannot continue.

Thanks for your reply. I later tried the manual slipstream you described in another thread in this forum. That gave me a message like 'folder already contains merged updates'. I guess the DELL CD is a slipstreamed SP1.

P.S. I wonder why it says 'Windows 3.1' in my mini-profile on the left...?

This is the Windows Forum membership indicator. Everyone starts on this and then moves up through the various Windows version - and beyond. Keep posting and you will soon be on Windows 95 and then, who knows?

Welcome to WF, by the way :)

Most probably but if you can click on My Computer you can see if SP1 is present.

What folder and files are present on that DELL CD?

What folder and files are present on that DELL CD?

[Folder] $OEM$

[Folder] DOCS

[Folder] I386

[Folder] SUPPORT

[Folder] VALUEADD

[File] AUTORUN.INF

[File] README.HTM

[File] SETUP.EXE

[File] SQ.TXT

[File] WIN51

[File] WIN51IP

I don't remember if this CD already had SP1 on it (all files are dated 2001-08-18).

I have SP2 already installed, but I wish to have an SP2 CD for recovery or repairs.

The result is the same (the exact message is "This Service Pack cannot be integrated into a destination that also has integrated Software Updates. Consult the Service Pack documentation for more details about supported scenarios.")

I think I'll leave it at that now. Thanks for the suggestions!

[Added] Found in another forum the suggestion to delete folder SVCPACK and file SVCPACK.INF from folder i386 in the CD folder. The integration was successful after that!

Thanks again!

  • 2 years later...

Hi, I have come to this place because of the need to slipstream my XP CD. Tried it the magazine way, but I have a SP2 CD and all of the ...CMDs didn't work.

So, someone directed me to ...auto slipstream.

I downloaded it and then tried to run it.

I am using an XP computer with plenty of HD and RAM and 2.0+ G CPU.

Well, as soon as I click on AutoStreamer in my program menu I get this kind of window:

Wrong Operating System.

The slipstreaming proceedure requires windows 2000/XP/2003.

AutoStream will now quit.

Huuunnh?

So, I uninstalled it.

Then re-downloaded it.

Then restarted it.

Same message--immediately.

Guess I'll try Chrises recommended method.
