Boris
Not sure about NTL, but my IP address on Freeserve broadband isn't static and changes every time I reconnect. You should also update to Service Pack 2 if you're worried about security ! dadyassa
I think it is now normal to have different address`s now read here
CurlyWhirly
My IP address changes every time I go online as well so I think this is pretty normal. The first 2 numbers more or less stay the same but the 3rd and 4th vary on a regular basis.
Agent Smith
I use NTL and can confirm that they do NOT use static addresses. In practice, I find mine does not change very often, but it does change occasionally. If you are in the habit of turning off your connecting device (either set top box, or cable modem) on a regular basis, then your IP will change more frequently.Hope that helps. CurlyWhirly
How do you know what it is?I go to www.whatismyip.com or I go to RUN and type in CMD and then ipconfig/ all in Windows.Edit:For some reason the IP addresses don't always match but that could be because I am under AOL's proxy servers? Most people's IP address would match I assume if they aren't on AOL? Hot Space
Thanks for the Info guy's B) I tried the Link you gave CurlyWhirly and it seems that I had a Proxy IP as well as a Norm one. I guess there isn't anyway of getting rid of the Proxy one (Affects Music Downloads and Playing Games Online sometimes)?Hot Space

andsome
Daft question, but I guess you can't go surfing without the Proxy Server?Hot SpaceI am using NTL. Where I live they are always late updating the cache, whatever that may mean, and I do not get Adaware updates until about a day and a half late. Using a proxy server in Birmingham it is more up to date.
Hot Space
I'm having the same problems with AdAware to the point that I don't really use to anymore :( Hot Space

I Up/Download things (music, free game patches etc) on Rapid Share for people, but I can't seem to be able to do this anymore because you have a limited amount of space per day to Up/Download so it's 1st come 1st serve atm  Hot Space
