Belatucadrus
It's been a long time since I used AVG but if we assume that it is AVG creating the pop-up then there are a couple of options 1: Try a manual update from AVG Click Here 2: Disable system tray notifications Click Here The only other thing that occurs to me is Clock setting, is the system time/date correct. If not then AVG may be confusing itself.
johnoo
Be.,Thanks, just to say the clock setting is correct. Also if the offending pop up comes again I will turn off the AVG "update notification" from the System Tray as you suggest to see if it makes any differance
johnoo
Turned of the AVG Update Notification, but still got the Pop up at next Start up.Run Malwarebytes it found nothingRun the two tools suggested by Irene, only thing found was:-HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Internet Setting [Proxy Override]As said before I'm concerned about removing this as it says it's Microsoft!! Advise Please?
Irene
Why not create a restore point and/or do a backup first. Then remove the suggested item and see if that stops the pop-up problem?
Belatucadrus
What's with this thread I keep trying to post an answer with some links in, I hit Post and all it says is "Saving thread" but nothing happens.
Boris
Test - it works OK for me :)
Belatucadrus
I don't see how a Registry entry could cause the AVG issue but if you're going to do anything to it it's worth creating a backup copy.InstructionsIt may be worth removing AVG and trying one of the other VirusBulletin tested freebies like avast 360 or Roboscan
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Just F.Y.I.: one of our AVG (free) just updated to version 15.0.0.5646 Unfortunately I didn't see the update process; I was outside when it happened. I hope I'm around when some of the other AVG installations update (to see if there is a similar pop-up as you see).
johnoo
I'm still at version 15.0.5645, I will check for automatic update, but no Pop up today so far.
