Toxassociates
If you have any hard drive that needs to be disposed, then a low level formatting of the hard drive is very necessary inasmuch an imperative tasks. This is because of security reasons, if you have sensitive information on the hard drive that you don't want anyone to retrieve. So before you throw away any hard drives, make sure to do a low level formatting. Low Level Format software can be obtained from various companies that manufacture hard drives such as Seagate, Western Digital, etc. Just go to their website and download "Disk Manager". -pops-
Heat treatment usually works. Place the drive on a burning fire - preferably outdoors - until suitably cooked. Less arduous than the hammer treatment and just as effective.

Nice idea but getting a gun license for anything that large would be a teeny bit difficult in the UK. Though it would be interesting to see how the fuzz dealt with the application. Quote 0.5 Calibre Browning, full auto required for secure disposal of confidential data. I've got some steel cored hunting shot for the 0.22 that should do it. But not as much fun.
