moon
Once in a while I boot up only to find a message ' Silicon Image RAID incomplete' I have to rebuild the set and it takes quite a while . I have no idea what causes this and no way, as far as I'm aware, to check if the message is accurate. Any clues ?
Bruce
Is it a striped array, or a redundant array?Sounds like it could be a power problem. I have seen drives loose data because of power fluctuations, or powerloss. I recently replaced an LCD, and a hard drive in a machine for a customer because they failed within a week of each other, the only thing that had changed was they moved the PC to the other side of the room, and plugged it into a different outlet. After replacing the two componants, then they called because their modem had failed. I went up and tested the electrical outlet. It was on the same circuit as their refrigerator, every time the frig cycled on the power would fluctuate so badly the PC was loosing sufficient poser and then it would get a surge. Needless to say they reimbursed me for the money I spent replacing their hardware, they didn't want to move the PC :o so I convinced them to at least by a battery backup, to stabilize the power coming into the PC. It seems to be fine now, although I informed them if they kept it plugged into that outlet, I could no longer honor the warranty. :( To make a long story short, I would check into possible electrical problems, or an inadequate power supply.
