the file pstores.exe (refers to protected storage). A couple of dll's. associated with the .exe are also located in the sytem files section of w98se. Have any of you heard of this file (pstores.exe) and if so ........what specifically does it do and is it necessary??? thanks in advance, jd As you may have noticed..........I really don't have Win3.1.

Windows Protected Storage contains:

Hidden information in all Windows based systems.

Auto-complete data offered by Internet Explorer when form filling on a web page.

Internet passwords.

Passwords to password-protected sites.

Identity passwords, dial-up passwords etc.

....and no doubt a lot more that I'm not aware of :)

thanks one and all..........I guess I better hang to that, since I like my auto complete and password stuff..the only reason I fixated on that app at all.......was I noticed it was being shown as a running app in what's happening. Then I got curious.
