Guest Mundy
Interesting read here interview with MS DirectX 9 will be the last DX release for a while, as Microsoft focuses resources on making bigger improvements for PC gaming in Longhorn, including introducing a standard controller. . Craig
I've been reading a hell of a lot of articles about longhorn since it was leaked a couple of weeks ago.Looks like Longhorn will be the biggest step forward the computing industry will have seen since Windows 95.A 3D interface, a new file system....It may be an idea to start a longhorn board to keep all the topics and posts together. Guest ordep
Progress i think they call it Damo, but your right of course, any one of the previous Windows would do the same job, give you access to the WWW.This next version, as with previous ones, makes the experience just that bit more easer.Quote;"Activity Centers are based on the following design principles: Provide a seamless user experience across all tasks for a few key feature areas Be task oriented so that options are phrased in terms of goals, not in terms of tools Focus the user on a single task per "page" and clearly state that focus Always make the next navigational step obvious Enumerate the user’s options for doing something other than the main task"Although reading Dean Lester's bit, there's going to be some goodies in there this time for us. (Gamers)Beta version popping up soon, wonder how much the full version will be, or can we (XP) upgrade Hey hoe, better start saving now :(
bvw
Norton Antivirus 2003 now has Product Activation just like Windows XP  http://www.winxpnews.com/ states:Follow Up on DRM DangersWe received a lot of mail from WinXPnews readers, expressing concern over Norton Antivirus (NAV) DRM and any possible harm the DRM might be doing to their computers. From what we can tell, the Norton Antivirus 2003 DRM does not do any active harm to your computer and will not prevent you from listening to your music files. If you have installed NAV 2003, you are safe if you choose not to remove it. Just keep in mind that there's a possibility that if you need to reinstall NAV in the future, it may not install and you may have to purchase another copy. But watch out for other kinds of DRM. In the future DRM may make it impossible to view your own pictures and movies, listen to MP3s you've recorded from CDs and LPs you've bought, or even use programs you legitimately purchased. DRM might cause a renaissance in paper, audio tape and video tape!

bvw
nor me ordep, happy with the radio :) I'm just not to sure about all this DRM and Activation stuff, a bit like Big Brother is watching you all the time. What about games etc on the PC, if you buy a game, have to activate it, will it be tied to that particular PC? No problem as such.....but what happens if you want to sell it/exchange it at a later date?Hmm......no doubt we will all find out soon :)
