Guest Dan
The software that came with the machine is Cyberlink version 4.0 and frankly either it or the memory usage is kind of glitchy.Bearing in mind that the machine is a 2200 XP unit and the memory consists of 1gb ddr, I really don't think it can have any reasonable complaints about resources.I don't know if it's always been like this. I don't often watch DVD's cause my only player is the pc one and as the monitor is comparitively small considering the size of the TV I'd much rather watch a video. However someone gave me a very nice box set of the West Wing and I'd really like to be able to watch the thing without skips, stoppages, freeze frames etc and these mostly occur towards the last epidsode on a disk or after watching more than one episode. So can anyone recommend either a piece of software to help Cyberlink cope or else an alternative piece of DVD player software. Incidentally the OS is XP.Many thanksDan
Guest ellas
I use windvd by http://www.intervideo.com if you want to save money use the addon for xp player for about £9 http://www.intervideo.com/media_pack/jsp/P....jsp?p=DVDXPack
Guest Dan
I used to use intervideo on my old pc and probably still have the disk. Do you think it would matter not uninstalling the current one and sticking this in too to see which is better. I'll check out the intervideo site and see if there are any xp patches etc.Cheers for the responseDan
Guest ellas
there is a xp patch but on mine xp went to the website by its self to obtain it,as long as you have the windvd serial number there should be no problem.
Guest Dan
I did go see and as far as I understand it they're not supporting or patching older versions, not keen to support oem versions sold with pc's either, so that may be a no goer.A friend has suggested Ravisent so I shall go look at them too.CheersDan

Guest Dan
Cheers for the link ellas.Actually I've got to play a bunch of dvds just to be sure that it's the drive and software rather than dodgy discs. (Unfortuanately I've been cutting grass for much of the day but will try and do some test runs tonight.) Will feed back further.Dan
