Installing XP onto SATA drive...

Recommended Posts

After my recent problems of trying to sort out my new machine, i have just gone to install windows....

Put the CD in, told it to boot off CD so that i can start the install...

and it just sits there at Boot from CD!

I need to install it onto my SATA drive, but at the moment i cant seem to get it to find my XP CD! The drive is working fine and is all connected up.. any idea?

Any advice?

(CD Does work btw)

insert your windows xp cd and boot from it .. then as the setup starts you'll see a message at the bottom saying 'press f6 to install additional devices' or something similar .. so press f6

then after it copies a few files you'll get a promt to press s to install additional devices. then you press s and then it asks for a floppy and you can insert the floppy with the sata drivers.

if the floppy is already in the drive it will just go ahead and install the drivers when you press s

but if there is more than one setof driver on the floppy you ll get a menu listing them out and you can choose the appropriate one

which motherboard do you have installed ? might be able to be more precise then
