NetGear Wireless Access Issue.

Ok I am trying to add a NetGear wireless access point to a friends home network.

He has 2 pcs.

The first is going to strictly be wireless.

The second, has access by going from the pc to a wall port. The wall port then goes to a Sonicwall Firewall then to his Comcast modem for access.

I tried to install the Netgear wifi access/router in with a switch, but I cannot access its setup page which has the ip 192.168.0.1.

Here is a diagram of how the router looks below:

The port on the far right is for internet access, while the other 4 are for other pcs and what not.

In the instructions is says to run the cable directly from the modem to the netgear, the connect the pcs you want into the other ports.

So what would be the best way to do this?

Here is what I have been doing.

wall port---5 port switch

then running a port of the switch to the wired pc, another port to the internet access port of the Netgear. Even attempting to access the setup page with an excellent wireless connection from the other pc, it cannnot find the page.

Help me out please!

How many ports are in the SonicWall?

You may need a crossover cable between the SonicWall and the AccessPoint/Router. Is it an AccessPoint/Router, or just an AP?

If I understand your network, you'll want to set it up as in this rough drawing (can you see that I'm a Network Geek and not an Artist? A little help here Artist! :))

Your SonicWall, assuming you still want to use it should be between the Cable Modem and the AccessPoint/Router.

[edit]Visualize it like you would hook up a VCR (If you have trouble with those, I'll try to find another analogy! :)). The Internet is like your cable connection or antenna. The WAN or DSL port(s) are like the "In from antenna" connections on your VCR, DVD Player, or Cable Box. The Switch Ports are like the "Out to TV" connections on those devices. I hope that all makes sense and isn't confusing you more!

Also remember switch port to switch port, or WAN port to WAN port, you'll need a crossover cable. If you don't get a link light, please try a store bought crossover cable (unless you're good at making cables and can test them).

I got it, I was making it more difficult than it really was.
