Why has my e-mail been blocked

Hi There Everyone,

I recently e-mailed one of the head honchos at the Royal Mail to make a complaint about certain aspects of their service. I was sent a very short reply to say it would be looked into.

That was three weeks ago. So today I attempted to send another e-mail to the same address, but this has been returned as undeliverable, with the following message:

There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email

server. Please contact your system administrator.

<smtp-out4.blueyonder.co.uk #5.5.0 smtp;554 Service unavailable;

[195.188.213.7] blocked using dnsbl.sorbs.net, reason: Spam Received

Does this mean I have been blocked because the recipient has added me to his nasty spammers folder etc??

Or does it mean he wasn't too happy that I managed to get hold of his private e-mail address??

Or does it mean BOTH!!!!!!!!

If anyone could cast a little glimpse of light on this I would be so grateful!

Kindest regards

Debbie

:flowers:

Hi Debbie,

Sorry for the delay getting a response back to you; I - and many others - had great difficulties accessing the Neoplanet site.

Sorbs.net is a blocklist for spam origin. Like most (or all) of these various blocklists, it lists servers from where spam originates. What this means is that some spam has originated from a server that belongs to your ISP, and that IP address has been listed (blocked).

Most of the spam blocklists delist IP addresses automatically after a certain time (e.g. 48 hours) if no more spam arrives from that server. Sometimes, e.g. if an ISP confirms that it has taken action against the spammer on their network, a server may be delisted immediately.

In short, you - or your email address - are not identified as a spammer, but a server belonging to your ISP has been identified as a spam source. You should contact your ISP in that matter.

Spammers always forge their "From:" email address, it would therefore be impossible to block any spam by email address.
