Webscan X problem

If you have a newer version (e.g. v7 or v8) available, it would be worth to try. I run with v8 and do not experience any problems.

Just did a KB search on the McAfee support site and found the problem confirmed for 4.5.1 SP1 (kb40726).

  • Solution 1:
Disable the WebscanX components (Download scan and Internet Filter).

These components are made redundant by the "System Scan" component, or the On-Access Scanner.
The feature of IP/URL blocking has been removed from future versions.

  • Solution 2:
Where possible, upgrade to the latest version of VirusScan.
For Windows NT SP6, Windows 2000 family, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 family, the latest version is VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i.
