ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Not sure where to ask this, so I place it here.I have been wondering for a very long time about this. I have a TV, video player, DVD player, and two cable TV tuner boxes. The latest cable tuner came with a universal remote controller for all devices, which is really convenient (if a bit complex). What I am wondering is this: some functions I can easily control from several meters away, others I have to stretch my arm closer, and yet others I have to go close to the machines themselves to get the command over. Why is this? I can understand that different devices may have different sensibilities. But it is sometimes the same device that accepts one command from afar (e.g. TV power off), yet another one works only from close by (e.g. TV volume).Just curious if anyone has a logical answer to this?
