thegooch49 Posted January 31, 2006 Report Share Posted January 31, 2006 Hello, I'm having some issues with a Windows 2000 SP3 machine. I have a sony DRU-120 DVD+RW installed, and mapped to F:. In the device manager, everyhting looks normal, and the driver seems to be properly installed. The drive is flakey at best. I inserted one of the software install CDs it came with, and it did an autorun of the launcher program on the disk. It launched the app, then stopped. I went in w/ Explorer, and clicked on F: to view contents. The system hung for about 40 seconds, then said "F: is not accessable". I put in another install CD, and I immediately got the accessable error. I restarted, and got similar results. If it does read the CD, it's flakey and won't run completely. Any ideas? I'll try that. Is it new ?It's someone elses machine, but no. It's about 3 years old. Has it worked before ?Yes. It has worked fine in the past.I'll try the uninstall/reinstall. Another funny thing. I have an 80GB external HD via USB2. It works on 2 other PCs I plugged it into, but not this one. It mounts as D:. When I access it it says "this isn't formatted". Thanks again for the help.
