rincewind
Hello! If I have an old computer running windows 98 och windows 2000 (its safe to say that I have fat32 or NTFS as filesystems on them). Can I be sure that the file date stays the same when I copy a file och move the file? When does the filedate change?Does anyone know how the file date changes?Regardz, -- Rincewind
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
If you copy or move a file, the file dates should remain the same.If you use Windows Explorer, then right-click on a file and select Properties, you will see that there are actually 3 dates: Created, Modified, and Accessed. Say you create a Word document, the Created date should always remain the same, the Modified date will be updated when you modify the file, and the Accessed date will be updated each time you read the document. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I have a few old FAT32 partitions, and - yes - I see the same information there: created, modified, and accessed date. Have you checked it on your own system?
