Kevin Posted March 6, 2006 Report Share Posted March 6, 2006 At my home, DSL, LAN, or High-Speed internet is not available (i live out in the boondocks), although when i open network connections, i have under connection manager listed "MSN" since that is my dial-up internet connection, but under "LAN or High-Speed Internet" there are two connections listed. One says "local area connection" and if that's enabled, i get a message that says "local area connection, A network cable is unplugged" which of course is normal in my opinion, but the other one says "1394 connection" If i hover the mouse over it, it says "1394 net adapter" and if that gets enabled, it says it's connected at 400mbps. What the heck is this, and why is it there? Also, if i right click on it, the delete button is greyed out. If i highlight it, and click the delete button, it says "the connection you selected cannot be deleted." The only connection to the outside world i have on my computer is a single phone line, that is for dial-up, and even when that's unplugged, the connection is still there, and will still say that it's connected. What is this for? It's been there for a while, but i just disabled it, and didn't really worry about it that much, but i know it hasn't always been there. It just appeared one day.
