Windows Installer not installed?

I am trying to install my printer, as my computer stopped recognizing it for some reason.

It says "configuring windows installer" then comes up with the error message:

"The Windows Installer service can not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe Mode, or Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personell for assistance"

I KNOW for a fact that I am not running Windows in safe mode. And being a home user, I do not have a support personell. Any fixes for this issue? :huh:

First, what version of the Windows Installer do you have? Check in C:\Windows\System32 file msiexec.exe - right-click and select Properties.

If it is 3.1.4000.something, then you probably have the newest version. If not, try to install the newest available version from here.

If this doesn't resolve the problem, please post back here.

before I forget, my computer is neglecting to shutdown too. I hit the shutdown button on the start menu, then i just hangs. I can shut it down by holding down the button, but I don't like doing it. Any fixes for this too?

oddly enough, the windows installer fix fixed my shutdown hang problem too! Thank you again B)

Glad to hear that :) Especially the really worse problem about not shutting down properly. You can really seriously damage your Windows installation by repeatedly "shutting down" with the power button. I know, sometimes there is no other way, but I'm happy you got that fixed.
