When ever I login i gotta wait like 3 minutes Before both of the aps Go to the systray. I have 768 Ram So I no that my ram is not the problem. Any suggestions? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted March 16, 2006 Report Share Posted March 16, 2006 Well, when Windows starts up and you login, there are literally thousands of things starting - not only anti-virus and firewall. You can see a few of them if you run msconfig; you can see a few more if you run Startup Inspector; and you can see a great deal more if you run Autoruns. You can use these utilities to disable certain startup programs, but use only one of these programs to disable things, not a combination of them! Also, if you decide to use Autoruns, be very careful what you disable - you have to know exactly what you do, otherwise you can completely ruin your Windows installation. I recommend to make a complete system backup before starting to change things.There are also a whole lot of drivers loaded at startup, and not all of them are actually used. If you start the Device Manager you can have it show all hidden devices (View). The hidden devices' icons appear paler than the active ones. You can (almost) safely uninstall the pale ones - especially duplicates, but again, make a system backup before starting to deleted devices.How large is your page file?Do you defragment sometimes? You can find its size by right-clicking My Computer -> Properties -> tab Advanced -> section Performance -> Settings -> tab Advanced -> section Virtual memory.The page file size should be about 1.5 times of your RAM size. Any suggestions?It's nice to have a lot of RAM, but it doesn't do you much good if you have a slow processor. What's your CPU speed?
