NEXCOMPAC
I got to be honest, this will be the first time I've had the chance to replace a server in a 2003 enviornment running Active Directory. I will need some pointers and helpers. First, you might want to know what I have and going to do. We have two servers running 2003. One needs to be replaced and we are using a Dell to do it. (no peanut gallery plz) I need to demote the server I think and take it off the network. How does this happen and how do I know which is the Primary DC? Then of corse, I'll need to migrate the Active Directory over, replace any and all roles the previous server had, and then promote it to the primary DC. Crossing all fingers, everything should sync. These are the basic steps im sure, but fill in the gaps and point me to any sites that could lend a hand. I will continue to update this post as I contiue to search.ThanksI found this acticle found here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;311078 but its not really what I think I need to do.
