error: connecting 2 win2kPro computers

Hi,

I have 2 computers with name "oldComputer" & "newComputer" with Win 2000 Pro (SP4) in both.

Connected with reverse cable. They are in LAN (workgroup with common name "MyWorkgroup").

Am able to access the "newComputer" from the "oldComputer" but not the other way.

As I try to access the "oldComputer" (MyNetworkplaces -> Computers Near Me -> dblClick oldComputer) I get error message that says: the server is not ready to accept remote request.

I have no idea why is it stopping me from doing so. I have checked the services in the "oldComputer" and ensured that RPC services is Running.

I dont know if the following will help in resolving the issue:

Both the computers have IP given: old(192.168.1.10) and new(192.168.1.20)

The oldComputer has Internet connection with DSL modem.

I have checked with few other forums and none could help me regarding this.

Any help is appreciated.

check that Client for microsoft networks is enabled on the new/old computer,check file and priter sharing as well

maybe running

net view

and checking if "old computer" exists will help

Thanks for your reply. I had posted the issue long back and none turned up except you. I agree that this forum may be turning unresponsive.

Any ways I was trying hard to fix the issue and luckily got the resolution myself. I have solved it.

Maybe it's the networking board that's become unresponsive? (It's an area I usually respond in, but I have been very preoccupied with work lately, sorry!)
