Lukus Posted May 24, 2006 Report Share Posted May 24, 2006 If you have a legit version of windows with a serial key, phone up microsoft and give them your serial key, tell them your details that they ask and they'll send you a new CD. This computer is a second hand and i have found the Win Xp service pack 1a CD rom and booklet, but there is no serial key in it. Is there a way to find the key from the cd itself? or is there an info on the cd which i can tell Microsoft so that they can give me the key? I live in mauritius and we mostly get pcs built from parts over here. Can i install the windows without the serial key? I have a new harddisk at hand right now. It will reveal the Product Key on the Operating System entry.I cannot boot the windows, So I connected the harddrive to another PC and I can browse in it and I am doing a back up right now... but I want to reInstall my own windows. Isn't there a way to get the product key ?Also I had a password protected user profile and now I cannot backup my Documents and Settings...can you give me a solution to that? I don't think you should have a problem with the activation.Do you have a Microsoft office or Microsoft representative in your country?
