There is a product key on the side of the computer, but I was told I need a disk to reinstall it. Someone said a disk can be downloaded and burnt onto a cd from the internet. Don't you have any restore points.??? Go to My Computer where it shows you what drives you have .There should be something like "C" Local disk and then another one there called system restore, usually marked as "D" or "E" drive.. ;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

DLL files I think.HUH, Thats strange.?You didn't get any kind of disk at all.???.! Not even one that say's :> ( System restore CD )..?? And it usually has the brand name of the computer on it as well.?If you didn't you should go back to where you bought the thing originally and ask/demand they give it to you, because now i would say you need it.. cozofdeath Posted May 27, 2006 Report Share Posted May 27, 2006 You must be one of the users that forgot to make one Yikes. Most OEMs require you to make your own restore discs. You may have to use a floppy/cd/dvd to get the system going again. You should try going into safe mode before trying anything else. When your computer starts and after you see the bios screen press and hold F8. You should then see a menu that will allow you to start in safe mode. From that menu you should have an option to go back to a previous restore point and an option for safe mode. If your not sure what to do when past that post back. I have tried safe mode, got it going, but then it restarted itself and I couldn't get it back there. It just says windows can't start because of missing DLL files. cozofdeath Posted May 27, 2006 Report Share Posted May 27, 2006 huh, well if you can't get to that menu then you'll have to use the other method. Do you have a bootable floppy/usb/cd/dvd? If not you can make one using another computer like this, open My Computer, right click the A: drive and click Format, in the format window check Create an MS-Dos startup disk, then click start. Or you can download one from here. This site has a lot of diagnostic tools that should help you as well. Does it say what dlls are missing?
