Here is what happend:after fixing spyware problem om my computer i had to uncheck the 'system restore' box to delete all old system restore points. When i checked the box again a new windows system restore point was made. I was curious about system restore so i pressed the F10 key after restarting my computer. i knew i had seen a calander of some kind that had to do with system restore tho i didn't know where. I had a few options to choose from: non destructive, semi destructive and destructive system restore. Because i was looking for this calander and had no intentions to restore anything i pressed enter for the non destructive system restore. I thought the calander would appear after the harddrive was prepared. Boy was i wrong. The conmputer did restore itself but for the worst.When the computer was done, windows had loast most of its settings. I can't use internet, control panel is not working propperly (a lil better in the safe mode), i can't drag and drop files from one folder to another (i can copy and past in DOS mode), etc, etc. The stupid thing is that there should be a system restore point somewhere but i can't get to it. when i go to start- programms-accesories-system tools-system restore... it wont start. If i try to activate the .exe file manually.. i get the message that my computer cannot be secured with system recovery and that i have to restart my computer and redo a system recovery. It is a serious software problem and has nothing to do with HJT or spyware. I have no idea of solving this.. can any one help me?WM Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Simba Posted June 14, 2006 Author Report Share Posted June 14, 2006 I tried your suggestion, didn't work unfortunately. I have bought an external harddrive but couldn't get it to work. Windows notices that new hardware is connected but can't install it so it seems.
