Desktop Boy Posted June 13, 2006 Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 I have two desktop towers that will not fully boot up to the login screen on Windows 2000 Pro. I would try dropping a new PC image on the machines but for some reason it appears that the CD-Rom is constantly running. Desktop Boy Posted June 13, 2006 Author Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 When I just try and boot normally Windows never fully boots and there is no beeping or errors. cozofdeath Posted June 13, 2006 Report Share Posted June 13, 2006 ok, I would try checking your cables making sure there are no broken pins or problems also make sure your using the correct IDE cable (40 pin/80 pin) and try a different power cable. Or you could try the Last Known Good Configuration at your safe mode boot options and when your in safe mode is there any detectable problems in your device manager. Your cdrom firmware may need updated but I think its probably a software problem. If there is a burning program on your computer or something that would mess with your cdrom drivers get it out of there to see if its causing the problem. If none of that works try this, ForceASPI and reinstalling you drivers.and if you haven't already done it some good system clean up utilities always help, such as registry scans, malware scans, defrags, chkdsk, sfc, and cache cleaners.
