tkrojam
I got the problem of Windows Installer for a long time, please give me ALL the possible solutions,THANKS. Windows XP cannot start "Windows Installer" service (Error 1067) I don't know the reason. I tried many methods to solve the problem but not successed. This problem makes me unabled to install any other games or softwares that is relative to Windows Installer. Yesterday, I got another problem with Windows Installer. I have nothing to do.....There is a Windows Installer window "Preparing to install" when I run any programmes that is relative to explorer.exe This window must load a long time, otherwise the program cannot be started. Here are the methods I tried to solve the problem: 1. Update to Windows Installer 3.1 (Version 2) 2. Install all avalible Windows Update components 3. Update all InstallShield Script (Version 9-11) and also latest InstallShield engine 4. Unregister Windows Installer, and then reregister Windows Installer. 5. Empty user and system "Temp" folders to install Windows Installer again 6. Check correct DCOM, system and registry permissions (I have logged as administrator) 7. Check that the installation path length and environment variables length are not execute 255 characters 8. Check system32\msiexec.exe and system32\msi.dll for the latest (3.1 Version 2) version If I tried to install Windows Installer again, the problem reamains existed. This problem seriously affects my general operations and works.Again, please help me to solve this, THANKSx1000!~ :)
cozofdeath
I would follow these two pages closely.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319624/http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=324516If you have done what they suggest then I would uninstall every trace of the Windows installer, previous versions, and config settings and reinstall. This tool will remove config settings for the individually programs that were installed. Have your checked the event logs for more info? You may have events with more info in the Application and/or System logs. Is that the whole error that you posted word for word, because if so you may have a service problem also. What happens when you type sc config msiserver start= demand into a command prompt, does the windows installer service start. You can check by opening run and typing services.msc, then look for Windows Installer and to the right under Startup Type it should say Manual. Make sure a setup procedure isn't already running in your processes. You may want to check out the options to the sc.exe command prompt tool also. The windows installer command switches might also help, type msiexec /? in a command prompt for a list. Hope something there help you out! cozofdeath
And there is no any Security event logs. The command prompt shows [sC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS to the command sc config msiserver start= demand and Windows Installer is still in the state of "Manual", not "Start". What can I do afterwards? That is ok, it should be set to manual and there shouldn't be anything in the security event logs. From the events you posted it looks like an application (Adobe) is trying to perform an install on demand (feature is installed in background because it is requested somehow). Have you tried using the tool on this page yet? You should be able to use it to remove adobes installation settings. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301Then uninstall adobe and reinstall it. See if that helps if not post back.
tkrojam
Hey cozofdeath , I have downloaded the utility but I have installed both Adobe Creative Suite CS2 and Adobe Production Studio, do you mean I should uninstall and reinstall both? There is no any adobe related program in startup options (msconfig), how can its application try to perform an install on demand? Please follow my case.THX~
