leefan
well, recently, i stopped using my PS/2 port mouse because i got a new USB mouse. well, the USB mouse had errors and i wanted to switch back, only to find that my old mouse didnt work anymore. I use XP professional.how do i get it to work? aparently, the USB driver overwrote the old driver, yet plug and play did not detect a PS/2 mouse plugged into my computer. then, i try to manually install a driver using my keyboard with add hardware, yet i couldnt find a driver on my computer for the old mouse. what do i do? ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum! If you open the Device Manager, what do you see under 'Mice and other pointing devices'? If there is any device there, can you right-click it, then update driver (to a standard PS/2 mouse)?

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
OK, here is what I would try in your situationUnplug your USB mouseOpen Device Manager, and on the View menu click Show hidden devicesYou may now see the USB mouse "greyed out"; uninstall itAny other "greyed out" mice or pointing devices; also uninstall itShut down Windows, plug in your PS/2 mouse, restart WindowsWindows should detect the PS/2 mouse during startup. If not, go to Control Panel, Add Hardware, and just follow the steps with the Add Hardware Wizard.
jason.b.c
Why not just plug in both of them and then with the usb mouse restart windows..??? Then as windows is restarting Unplug the USB mouse...!!!!!!!!! And leave the PS/2 mouse attached..
