Hi there,

Today I was sorting out my computer and removered a few things such as programs. I later went to check my emails and noticed all my receieved, sent, deleted mails were gone, and also my folders. Earlier today, I deleted MS Outlook from my desktop. It said something about remivnng it wil be a problem. Is this what is causing the problem? I also went back to an earlier restore point, but all the messages are still gone. Is there any way of getting them back?

Many thanks

Hello, and welcome to the Windows Forum!

MS Outlook stores all emails and contacts in a .PST file. Uninstalling Outlook will not remove the PST file or any emails.

Make sure that you have "Show hidden files and folders" enabled, then search for *.PST files. You should find one or more PST files on your HD. Open OL, then open the one PST file that is most likely your "real" one, e.g. with the latest date and largest size.

P.S. deleting certain system icons from the desktop is not a good idea (Internet Explorer, Outlook, etc.). These are not simple shortcuts, but Control Panel extensions. You better use TweakUI from the Microsoft PowerToys download page to activate or deactivate these icons.
