SieRobin Posted September 15, 2006 Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 I just actually wiped my brother's hard-drive, just so i can start Windows XP Professional from a clean slate, but now it won't even load the CD-ROM when it starts to boot up so I can actually install WXPP.I'm not sure what I have to do here, I went into my BIOS.. but the boot cycle is fine, it loads my CD-ROM second out of everything, so what exactly can I do?The CD is also burned, I like to backup my CDs, and unfortunately I lost my WXPP CD, so.. There used to be instructions how to do this in our Guides section, but unfortunately it has partially disappeared (the images have).Anyway, test it on another computer to see if it is bootable.[Edit] You mentioned that the CD-ROM is second in the boot sequence; what is first?If you can't boot from the CD-ROM, you can make a set of boot floppy disks; see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310994 for details. I've used the CD before to just do a "New Installation" on the same computer while I was on the desktop, and everything worked perfectly. SieRobin Posted September 15, 2006 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2006 Boot Sequence goes CD-ROM first, then Removable Devices [Floppy Drive], Hard Drive, then Network Boot..So CD-ROM is the first thing to be booted from the bios, why it's not working? djohn Posted September 17, 2006 Report Share Posted September 17, 2006 It might just be your CD drive is not recognised so before buying a new one find the maufacturer of same and download a driver to a floppy.
