Every process activated at once???

Hi All,

The last few days I've gotten 2 blue screen errors - something about driver irq not less or whatever. I've reset the computer and it goes fine.

But yesterday I had a freakish thing happen. I had like 40-50 process activate at once. Folders with weird things like GDI+Window. An IM program that sits in the quicktray opened up but it opened with like six different 'components'. I had like 20 firefox instances with weird titles. There were heaps of other things that opened I managed to shut them all down. But then I was left with a detached font list like what is available in Microsoft but it stuck to the desktop. Nothing to shut it down - the only possible way would be if I knew the exact name of the process but I didn't. Only problem with shutting everything down was that it was a permanent shut down. Eventually I had about 2 programs left in the quicktray. And because I couldn't shut down the font list I tried an end process on Explorer. Sometimes I get nothing on the screen but a background and then explorer regenerates. It didn't happen so I rebooted.

Hasn't happened again but thought I better ask because I've never experienced this before. Any ideas?

Thanks

Maggs

Hello Magnatolia and welcome to the forum. Are you running Windows XP? If so have you tried a system restore to a date prior to this happening? Also what protection do you have on your machine such as a firewall, antivirus checker, spyware guard etc. Post back and let us know answers to above and if your still having problems after checking your machine for scumware we'll ask you to post an Highjackthis log in a different part of the forum for our resident expert to check over for you. Don't worry too much though as I'm sure we can soon have your machine running as its supposed to. :)
