dagwoood
If someone could verify that my thinking is correct on something please and this should work To wirelessly connect a laptop to the internet in a household that only has the laptop and no other PC in the house, what you would have to do is initially connect the laptop to the router via a network cable, connect the router to your modem, and configure the router(ie set up security protocols and make sure the router is "seeing" the internet). Then, disconnect the laptop from the router, enable the wireless network adaptor on the laptop, and use the new network connection wizard to connect wirelessly to the router/internet.Is this correct, or do you have to have a pc connected to the router via a network cable at all times? The router is one of these.TIA, dagwoood. dagwoood
This is resolved.I was correct in how to set up the router but omitted the details about setting up the encryption and making a note of SSID and usernames.I found out you don't need to run the network wizard but enable the WiFi adaptor and enter the encryption/passwords/username.Hope this is some use to someone else.
