Problem running Xsitepro - JIT error or something

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I don't know anything about programming or weird errors. That's why this forum exists...to help people like me ;)

I have installed XSitePro Total webmanagement system on 3 pieces (not connected to each other).

It worked on 2 of them, but on one it gave a error.

After I entered my registration info, it says "Thank you for choosing XSitePro" and it should start the program, but on my one pc it gives this error window:

"An unexpected exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the applicaton will be shut down immediately.

The typeinitializer for "SOL.XSFData.Entity.SOLDBProject" threw an exception."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tried to continue but the error keeps coming.

Here is the "details" of the error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this

application or machine (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine

rather than being handled by this dialog.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST

The thing is, I don't know sh*t about what is going on here.

I know NOTHING about programming or what JIT is.

Can someone please point me to a direction or maybe give me easy to understand instructions as how to solve this problem.

I know there is nothing wrong with the software, because I installed it on my pc at work and on my laptop.

Hope you can help me. :)

Best Regards,

Galloe

Don't know anything about what your doing and I'm not much of a programmer but I found these links on google. They seem like they might help.

http://www.devnewsgroups.net/group/microso.../topic9336.aspx

http://xsitepro.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=1078

Both sites recommend downloading a file to correct the problem.

Thanks man!!

The second link pointed me into the right direction. The software is working now.

I browsed through that messageboard last night but couldn't find anything.

Thanks alot

Regards,

Galloe

Microsoft Data Access Components(MDAC) version 2.6 or later

Sounds like a database incompat, sql errors

at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.CreateInstanceMDAC()

says it can create and instance of the data access component, for your app, etc.

but...

at Sol.XSPData.Database.SolServerSql.select(String sql) in C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Visual Studio Projects\Sol.SiteGenerator\Sol.XSPData\Database\SolServerSql.cs:line 222

a syntax error, which is probably just a string or sql, or oledb command, not recognized by the older version mdac, under .net, so just upgrade the mdac component, and maybe reverse out, or try it as is and see what happens, check ms site first. this is a common incompat issue, while migrating to .net

Microsoft Data Access Components(MDAC) versions are available for free, in it's latest version, from ms (search at ms, for the scoop)

this is a db engine, which ms offers to developers to distribute with all kinds of programs requiring db connections, for data, which they use for complex data, to be saved, as a config other than the registry, or .ini, .dat files, becasue it is very robust and powerful, and the top end of the technology, for creating databases, for their users and programs, which usually remain unseen, but contain data. On a web, it's probably your main database mangement component, that spits to pages, or keeps logs or a startup config, etc, and it sounds out of date. You may do a restore, or uninstall, and install the newer MDAC.exe, or whatever ms recommends. It's just incompatible from the get go
