"A single-player demo of Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is now available, offering the opportunity to try out this upcoming tactical first-person shooter by NovaLogic. This is not the official demo (originates from a magazine CD) but it features one level set in Mogadishu where two Delta teams go on a mission to free a number of hostages. Novalogic mentioned that an official single- and multi-player demo will be released in a few weeks. Read more for links where to grab the goods ..."

You can either get it from Worthplaying.com or 3D Gamers.com

Just in case you were interested.

Ooh, I like it I like it, going to be right up my street this

Start of hanging out of a chopper, circling what looks like Iraq or some such place. Mission , to rescue the hostages.

Your firing from the chopper, trying to knock of all the bad guys, got shot down a couple of times.

Eventually landed, then its of to do some serious "cleansing"

Love it

How the heck do you use the emoticons...

Ordep - you are not allowed to kill all and sundry. I know you want to but you'll have to cool the aggression a bit! B)

30 mins to download - that kind of file size would take me a couple of days... ha ha. :o (dammit)

Did enjoy this, lots of bad guys running around with RPG's. You have to take them out quickly before they do you. Quite a quick mission this once you know what your doing. Took me ages, as once I died I kept having to restart from the beginning. :(

For some reason when you died it only gave option to end mission or to restart. I know I had saved my game yesterday, so not having a load option was strange. Anyhow, started again and hit the F5 key for quick save but upon dying did not have a load option. According to the readme/manual Esc should bring up the load screen - but it didn't for me? However, I persevered and found that having done more quicksave's the next time I died I was given an option to load the saved game by using the numerical keys... strange? not come across this configuration before. Anyone else had problems?

Graphically, especially the opening sequence on the helicopter it appears gorgeous, but close up the doors and walls are lacking in detail (1024 x 768 and all graphic options on high) but I presume this will be improved for the full release. Comments anyone?

I have that prob Mundy, save game that is, glade you figured it out, perhaps i can move on now. :)

I've played all the Delta series, and the lacking in detail you mention is the same in all the games, though the graphics in this latest incarnation is probable the best yet.

If you enjoy sniping you'll enjoy the Delta force series, cos thats primarily what there all about.

I think Task Force Dagger was the last one, you can get all the demos here.

The Official single/mutiplayer demo has been announced now...

DELTA FORCE - BLACK HAWK DOWN OFFICIAL SINGLE /MULTIPLAYER DEMO ANNOUNCED

Demo to Debut on nvidia.com on February 4th, 2003.

CALABASAS, CA (January 30th 2003) - Entertainment software developer and publisher NovaLogic, Inc. today announced that it has teamed up with NVIDIA Corp. to launch the official single / multiplayer demo for Delta Force - Black Hawk Down. Beginning February 4th 2003, the demo will be available for download exclusively at www.nvidia.com, with key mirror sites becoming available from February 7th onwards.

The demo will feature one single player mission entitled "Diplomatic Immunity." The objective of the mission is to recapture a UN building being held by Habr Gadir militia. Delta Teams 2 and 5 insert by helicopter and must locate and secure hostages before escorting them to a waiting convoy for extraction.

A new multiplayer map, playable over the NovaWorld Games Network and via LAN, will also be included featuring the Team Capture the Flag game type. Entitled "Bridge over the Jubba River," the level is an open terrain map that has several bridges across the river and green rolling hills. To reach the enemy's flags, players will need to cross the river by either securing one of the bridges or swimming across the water.

Other features in the demo include:

  • Insertion by MH-6 helicopter transports.

  • An AI system that drives friendly teams and enemies that carry out strategic, lethal combat maneuvers.

  • Guard fallen squad members until CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue) team arrives.

  • In multiplayer, players can use hand signals to direct their squads, taunt opponents or celebrate victory.

DOH!

No wonder it the link from Nvidia didn't work when I tried it. What a dumb ass!!

You say Feb 4th, just for the official demo? That's a long time to wait if you're an impatient teenager... or the village idiot, if you're like me.

I'll get around to this = I've been drooling over the screenshots for a little while now...

Time's up boys, just down loading it know

Here's just a snippet, plenty more to read while your waiting to down load.

The failed 1993 U.S. military mission in Mogadishu, Somalia, lasted less than a day, but the conflict cost the lives of 18 U.S. soldiers, injured 84 more and killed hundreds of Somalis (soldiers and civilians). The operation-as part of the larger relief effort to reopen food lines to the region-was intended to capture key Somalian military leaders as prisoners and quickly hustle them out of the city. Within minutes of the mission's start, however, two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down in an ambush, crashing into the streets of Mogadishu. What began as a get-in, get-out surgical strike quickly turned into an every-man-for-himself fight for survival amid flying bullets and rocket-fired grenades, but also to recover the bodies of their fallen comrades.

In the years that have since passed, this event has left a lasting mark on history. It's also been recounted extensively in the media, including a Philadelphia Inquirer series (and subsequent book), a CNN news report and, most recently, in a 2002 movie, Black Hawk Down.

'ere, not so much of the old.

Not many gamers in here, so I haven't been around for a bit but,

yourself, Ip & mundy are around a lot more now so thats good.

Don't know whats happened to Dan & waster though

Good to see your "wired up" now, cant understand why your getting "cut off" though during on line gaming.

I was trying to join you last night for a spot of slaughter on Spearhead, I spent an hour looking for IP's server, couldn't find it, tried the password as well.
