Guest The Ghost of Inept Pig Posted January 9, 2003 Report Share Posted January 9, 2003 If you've come here from the Gamesroom (which is quite likely) you should already know about this, and the fact that I have acquired a Barrysword Barryserver for a month of free play, via virtues that you shall never know about (well, at least until I release my auto-biography entitled "Nemises of the Teaboy")The server is a Barrysworld Type D server, and has 9 games to choose from, all with the potential for a high amount of players.Server details are: BarryServer - < Censored - UK > (213.221.175.103:29963)Currently running is Spearhead on a team death match, with 6 reserved slots which originally were put aside for the Gamesroom people hence the password, follow the instructions below to see how to access one of these slots.Also, If you want to access the server by using the I.P. address, you have to use the console, due to a bug within Spearhead that doesn't allow colons to be put in the I.P. address (which hopefully will be fixed in the NEXT patch):Load up Spearhead as normal.Press the ' ¬ ' key to lower the console (you may have to activate this first).Type in 'password PCA' (press enter)Type in 'connect 213.221.175.103:29963' (press enter)I'm open to suggestions as ever, to the games that should be run on this server.Hope to see some of you there... Maby's idea of ms gamevoice thing might help a little too. Haven't worked out how to type in cheeky insults/remarks and the like whilst flying upside down like I saw this other guy do on a public server. (He'd basically killed me (his own team-mate), whilst patiently waiting in line (on a battleship) to get the nedxt available plane off of it. What can I say, I adjusted my language (in case he was young) and told him what a little f**;r he was - his response was quite an impressive fly-by, but a poorly co-ordinated verbal retort though expertertly done, it being more than a little tricky flying those planes.So hey, Mr Pig, you taking the bait? Awww - go on, you know you want to. And the game runs so well on a 56k dial up modem too. All things considered though, it would be very interesting to see if we could actually pull off what EA envisaged the game as being capable of, a co-ordinated assault and domination of those beautiful maps!The jeeps still the most effective weapon though... Guest The Ghost of Inept Pig Posted January 12, 2003 Report Share Posted January 12, 2003 Well, I do think that if we wanted to play BF1942 together in a 'team' kinda way, we'd have to agree a time in which we could all merrily pootle our way over to a server, but with no way of knowing which servers will be emptyish or working, we'd have to decide on that matter just before we all charged in... Blame Barrysworld for not offering the BF1942 option yet....Anyway, I've had the server for a week now, and it's just been running Spearhead consistently - do enough people have any of the other games to make it worthwhile switching? Guest The Ghost of Inept Pig Posted January 13, 2003 Report Share Posted January 13, 2003 Damn show offs with their huge gaming collections.... :D Maby suggested in the other thread (Too little too late) that we switch back to MOH:AA old style, to allow more people to join in with the shooting fun, so I'll switch the server over to that for now (although, sadly, I will have to remove snowy park from the map rotation list... it's just not good for my eyes)If anyone knows of any good maps that don't come as standard to MOH:AA, please tell me and I'll try to get them added...You should still be able to access the reserved slots in much the same manner though, saving me lots of typing.. great, huh? Guest The Ghost of Inept Pig Posted January 16, 2003 Report Share Posted January 16, 2003 Yeah, to be honest I'm struggling to muster much enthusiasm for the gaming world and it's follies of late...I'll normally go to a few online servers for a couple of rounds of MOH:AA or some other shooty-shooty game, but I find that the allure of playing games has diminished substantiallyAs regards to running BF1942 on Pilches server - I think the game is just too damned big, and would require a bigger game server, I shall ask when I cross paths with him though.. he maybe able to be more technical about itTis still running MOH:AA right now, I could switch it to another game if you so desired me to Mr.Tooth, easily done. (*Not sure on line of communication.)I'm sure I did all this earlier but never mind here it goes again!Mundy kicked my behind yesterday on IP's server...cheers :( As to Pilchy hosting any games in the near future is debatable.He is still getting randomly "kicked" from his isp and is getting more and more fed-up by the minute.I don't even know if he has BF 1942,but I'm sure if he has it he will host it when the time is right.(ie when his server is stable).Cheers.PS I'm in daily contact with Pilch and this isp thing is really getting to him....He was booted earlier from IRC and hasn't come back since.I think he's had enough!
