Guest Windows Forum Guest Posted January 9, 2003 Report Share Posted January 9, 2003 When I registered there was an option to remain anonymous which I thought meant keeping my email add to myself and as I'm getting quite enough spam thank you very much I checked the box. Now of course I realise it just means I'm the ONLY anonymous sod on the site! I'm not explaining clearly enough I guess.when I'm logged on I show up as anonymous so if youve got 3 other members on they're named and I show up anon. It's a little thing really but I'm a maggot not a ninja (not skulking in the shadows).I originally ticked anon cause I thought otherwise my email address would be tagged to my name for all postings. Guest ellas Posted January 9, 2003 Report Share Posted January 9, 2003 I cannot change it in admin cp,try going to my controls,board settings and looking at "Do you wish to hide your session id in the links?"(Note: Your computer must be able to receive temporary cookies to use this featureChoosing 'no' may cause problems when sharing links with people on the same proxy as you) and if it says yes change it to no,only other thing I can suggest is change you password if that does not work( in my controls),maybe craig knows better,should have said about email as we can hide that for you. Craig Posted January 9, 2003 Report Share Posted January 9, 2003 Hi there!Not sure why the anonymous option is there as everything is exactly the same as a normal member, except when you view the online users list the anonymous members have a little * by there username in red or blue.As it stands, all email address are hidden at this board, so the only way a user from this board can email is by clicking a link in the members profile, then when that member revieves the email it says it is from Windows Forum.Any problems with Spam at that point, then either myself, ellas or mark2 as admins can delete your email address from your account.Craig.
