I've been working from home over the VPN for 2 years.

I've had conection problems on & off but my latest problem can't be fixed.

I'm running windows 2000, Pentium 4, 1GB Ram, Fully upto date.

Broadband with talktalk, Macafe internet suite.

I can conect to work with no problems & also check my email via the exchage on the server at work.

When i try to map the network drive, i get the message "the network path \\**-******\projects could not be found"

The message pops up instantly, as though it's not even looked.

Any help wil be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to ping the server you're trying to connect to by name?

Go to a Command Prompt (Start, Run, type cmd, then hit Enter). In the command window that opens, type ping ServerName, replacing the ServerName with your server's network name. If not, there's a name resolution problem.

As a workaround, you could put in an IP Address for the server if you know it for your share instead of the server name.

It would look like \\192.168.100.1\projects instead of \\**-******\projects.

Now i have a new problem, i can connect, map the drive & open the model, i can then work away all day without a problem.

As soon as i try to save the model back to the server at the office, i get the message

"disk is full or write protected" & my mapped drive folder window shuts down.

Any ideas?
