There was also an add-on announced by Microsoft last year - Microsoft Private Folders, but it was withdrawn quickly after a worldwide outcry from corporations who did not want their employees to create private folders on company systems.The tool is still available at several places; do a Google search for Microsoft Private Folder. cozofdeath Posted January 31, 2007 Report Share Posted January 31, 2007 You can encrypt it by right clicking on the file and choosing Advanced, encrypt, the file can than only be opened by the user that encrypted it or the administrator. You could use permissions to deny everyone but yourself to the folder. If you want something to spring up a password box you will have to use other software. You could also hide the file (right click the file/folder,select hidden) or give it a system attribute to hide it (open a command prompt and type "attrib +S filename.txt"). You can get to this screen by opening a folder or explorer and clicking Tools on the file menu and select Folder Options, then the view tab.would +s set it to hidden or is +h also necessary?It can be one attribute or both.
