cozofdeath
In safe mode explorer work with out problem !!This is probably the key to the problem. In safe mode on needed system services will start. So you have to start looking at the other services you have and single out which one is causing this problem. This could be a driver, malware still, service or some kind of startup application. A good way to troubleshoot is opening msconfig (Click Start button, Run, type msconfig). The Services and Startup tabs are what you would want to focus on. You could uncheck all of the Startup items then reboot to see if its a startup application. If thats not it try disabling services, but only services you know are not needed. Here is a good site that will tell you what specific services do if you don't know. http://www.theeldergeek.com/services_guide.htmAlso, running sfc /scannow from a command prompt or Run may help. Hope something here helps.

ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Try Google 'Windows 2000 msconfig' and you will find many places where you can download msconfig. You can also try Startup Inspector, which is easier to use, and shows you more startup programs than msconfig.
