But, most (read nearly all) new machines I've priced are configured with Vista...don't want Vista. And, rather than reload all the software that I've accumulated over the past 6 years on a new HD I'm planning to pull the HD (120GB) with all my software from the exisiting machine and install it in the new machine then map it as the new E-drive.....clever huh??....but will this really work?????Now for the rest of the story....buy this new machine with DOS only...no Vista.....load Windows XP Pro (my current OS) and map the new E-drive. The reason: it has not been installed on the new computer. You will have all the software on E:, but it cannot run - all the additional info (registry entries, etc.) will be missing.
