need help on users

hi all, my first post here but i need help too :(

here is the background information for my laptop:

recently reinstalled windows, ran my benQ operating system CD, which automatically created a new account.

the problem is, i actually wanted to repair my scvhost.exe file so my reinstallation wasn't intentional.

anyway, i panicked because i thought my "My Documents" folder would be wiped out (that is, my 40 gigs or so of movies). not wanting to accidently make the

situation worse, i let the cd reinstall windows. to my joy, i eventually found in my "Documents and Settings" folder, my "My Documents" folder was still there, including my work (+ my movies).

my movies weren't the biggest problem btw, it was the account that i was on. after logging off this account, i could not log back onto my old account, which means i'd have to change a lot of settings to get back to my laptop's old state.

now that you readers have heard my story, i'd like to ask of you, to tell me how, or if i can log back onto my old account.

What happens if you try to logon to your old account? Password incorrect, or userid invalid? Can you login to an alternate admin account and check out the other account?

I do not know too much about user accounts, as I have only one account on each computer. So hopefully someone else with more knowledge in that area will give you more ideas.

Unfortunately the main windowsforum.org domain is down at the moment, so there may be less visitors today than on other days. (Or perhaps it is only from here that I cannot access windowsforum.org).

oh i see, i'm directed to another domain as well.

the error message is something along the lines of "the system could not log you on.."

i'm on this laptop's admin account right now, and the only way i could see my other account was by manually typing in (the X's are just fillers):

X:\Documents and Settings\X\My Documents\
