marios_softwares Posted April 18, 2007 Report Share Posted April 18, 2007 I used to have the errore message something like "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert media in selected boot device". Then I changed in Gnome ( linux partioning live cd) the flag for the hard drive and selected boot. Then it was just restarting over and over again. I booted from the Recovery Console and entered FIXBOOT. It said Master Boot Record corrupted and it fixed it, but it said the filesystem was FAT when it actually was NTFS. Now in gnome it says it is unable to read the content of the filesystem and when I mount the drive in Knoppix (Linux Live CD) there are only files with weird names and no folders. I don't care about Windows, all I need is my data. All I need is to fix the filesystem so I can copy it with Knoppix onto an external HD. But the check and fix option in gnome doesn't work since it can't read the filesystem. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
