CADModeller Posted May 7, 2007 Report Share Posted May 7, 2007 I recently had a laptop system board replaced, and the BIOS was updated at the same time. I've "rebuild" with an image that was made before the system board died, and I'm having difficulty installing some software that previously installed OK. Was the replacement motherboard exactly the same as the original one? If not, this could be the cause for some problem(s).What are the difficulties you are experiencing with these installs? CADModeller Posted May 8, 2007 Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2007 Hi Pat.The software I'm installing is Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS). It requires at least SQL Express in order to run properly, and as part of the pre-installation checking, it looks at IIS. The installation disk also installs .NET Framework 2.0. The pre-checking process involves 21 checks. I get 3 warnings, which is pretty standard, and 1 failure. I've attached the file that shows the error. There are 2 solutions offered when I click on the error message - reregistering IIS (C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i), and uninstalling .NET 2.0 and allowing the installation program to reinstall it. A third possible solution was offered to me by Autodesk - C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\IISRESET. None of these has worked, and given the repairs that were done, I'm thinking that the image is now not suitable, if that makes any sense.ADMS_Error.doc Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But other than that I have no ideas, except to make sure that all updates for Windows, .NET, IIS, SQL Server, etc. are installed.Once the users in the UK login, they may have some additional opinions on the updated BIOS. The computer's been reassigned so doesn't have the need for the software any more, which is a bit of a shame. I would've liked to completly work through the issue and resolve it, but unfortunately won't get the chance. You can bet I'll come across this issue again out in the field...
