3d Modeling

At school i have noticed that the students that are doing A-Level technology have been using a 3d modeling program and i want to know what it is. They seemed to be designing cameras. I saw that the program allowed them to rotate around the object and change the serface areas (colour, shading) Does anyone know what this mystery program is?

Funny you should say that...... I suppose there are a few programs that can do that, but I have a cover disk that came with the August 2003 issue of Computer Buyer and it has a full version of Amapi 3D v. 5.15 on it. I haven't actually had a go at it yet.....but I intend to... but it is supposed to do everything that you described and more. The magazine has quite a comprehensive tutorial in it too!!

I am convinced it is not Auto CAD after using a demo version it is not the same. The program used at school looked alot simpler and i remeber them clicking on the camera and it would change the tone of the surface. oh and i also remember that the area around the camera they were working on (blank space) was grey and not black (auto CAD=black) Any ideas?

I think it used for single objects rather than whole landscapes of things. It allowed objects to be rotated rather than just seeing a flat image that looks 3D. If you know what i mean. It looked like quite a simple program(but i may be wrong)

To be honest we could be guessing for the next six weeks. Here is are some links about the programs that Damo mentioned

3D studio max

milkshake info

I also did a google using '3D modelling program' as my key words and there were loads of programes to choose from. Perhaps that may be an option??

ok it was not those two. Im just going to get all the facts togetehr i know about the program:

It is a 3d modeling program that models single 3d objects and not flat images that look 3d.

It possibly has a camera as one of its templates.

It allows you to select a serface colour and automaticly adds shading.

The work spae is grey (not black like most)

I was probably quite cheap (school has it)

I think it was quite a basic program

Its not:

Milkshape

3D studio Max

Amapi 3D

Auto CAD

Thats all i know

If you have ant ideas at all then please let me know

But if not thancks for trying

CYA
