joesaysso
I bought a Zune a few days ago, which I quite enjoy. My wife is so enthralled by it that she wants to buy her own so she could have her own music and other things on it. I decided to install the software on her laptop now so we could start organizing her library. That way, once she gets her Zune all she has to do is sync it to the software. So here's the problem: when I try to install the software, the installation stops at the first step and says that "Zune does not support the operating system". Odd since both, her laptop and my desktop have Vista and I had no problems installing on my PC. The Zune website was no help. It lists all of the OSes that Zune is supposed to support, which Vista is listed. There is also a link on the website that says "if you have one of the listed operating systems and would like to continue with the download click here" which then prompts me to save something else to my hard drive and then run it (or run it directly from the server). When I try running this thing, it also stops at the first step and I get a message that "No new Zune software found". I paraphrased that last one as I don't remember exactly what it said.I've tried running windows update but all I get is that "windows is up to date". I've checked the Zune website and all they talk about is install issues dealing with XP or the transition from XP to Vista and checking minimum requirements, which from the best I could tell, the laptop meets. Things to note: my wife's laptop was bought from a retailer with Vista already installed. My desktop was a full "clean" install on a new hard drive. I googled this issue and found a lot of stuff regarding the same issue from back when Vista was in beta and the Zune hardware hadn't even been released yet. But I never found a resolution and I never saw anything newer. Has anybody here encountered this problem and possibly a fix for this issue? I assume since I had an error free install on my desktop there is some issue with the laptop, either something I need to download or something that I need to turn on or off but I'm at a loss at this point. Thanks in advance to anyone who reads.
