Media file sharing between XP and Vista on a network

Recommended Posts

I have a PC running Vista Home Premium and a second PC runing XP Home Edition. They are both networked to the same linksys router which is in turn connected to a cable modem for internet access. I am trying to share music files between the 2 computers but they don't seem to want to "talk" to each other. I have enabled sharing and discovery on both computers. I downloaded and installed the LLTP Responder from Microsoft to the computer running XP so it will at least show up in the network map on the Vista computer. I am not an expert but it took me 15 minutes to set up a home network that I could share files on when both PCs were running XP. Why is this so hard with one PC now running Vista (I thought Vista was supposed to improve our lives, lower our cholesterol and make us irresistable to the opposite sex).

Can anyone help?

I'm not sure what the issue is but my first thought was to check and see if they are in the same workgroup. I'm actually not even sure if Vista has workgroups, but I assume it does.

And vista may lower our cholesterol, but it sure seems to raise our blood pressure at the same time.
