Group Policy Problem

Hi all, im new to this forum so I help someone can help me out.

I have two terminal servers, I have created a GPO in my Domain Controller. The policy worked until about 2 weeks ago. One of the servers all of a sudden would not apply the GPO to any of the users and so they have access to everything. Ive looked in the event logs and it had eventid 1030 and 1058 errors, which said could not read gpt.ini in sysvol and so could not read the GPO. What I did was windows update the terminal server and DC to win2k3 sp2, then I deleted the group policy and restored the backup I had created. Linked both Terminal servers to the newly restored GPO and ran the dfsutil /PurgeMupCache and gpupdate /force, event logs now state that the GPO are applied successfully all the time, now heres the kicker, even though the eventlogs state its all ok, it still doesnt apply the GPO!!!

I have no idea what I can try anymore, I have used a cosultant who couldnt figure it out either.

If anyone has any ideas on what I can try next I would be very greatful.

I am not an expert on Windows Servers or GP, but it has been my experience that Windows must be rebooted to actually activate the policies. So my question: did you reboot?

If yes, but it did not fix the problem, then we'll have to wait until a real expert logs in.

Well, in my experience, and old backup of windows settings, isn't always relaiable, after you upgrade.

So my question is, can you remove the GPO and setup a new one, using any new features made available in sp2, and thereby being sure its setup for the newest update on windows
