shoomba
I have a toshiba laptop and a couple weeks ago the power cord began to get a short and it got progressively worse i dont know if this is related to my problem or not but it happend around the same time. Anyways my power would randomly shut off on me and sometimes before windows could load so i would get a screen telling me to start in safe mode or just normal i would choose normal cause i knew the problem. Then it got worse. I was on my computer and it just shut off loss of power again nothing unusual as of late. However when i tried to start it up again i got the windows didnt start properly screen and no matter what i choose now the same thing happens. It gets to the windows XP screen with the scrolling blue thing on the bottom stays there for an un-usual long time before i get a quick flash of the blue screen of death and the process starts over. Im thinking its game over cause windows wont even start but hey what do i know.
pa1916
You will require the computer recovery disk as your HDD sounds corrupt, that is a full system reinstall. You could try pumping F8 on boot to see if you can get it into safemode and choose the last worked correctly optionbut i don't think you could get that far by what you have said.
