If so, I'm thinking of using them for my nvidia card... :o Well... it'd be nice to know ATI'd optimised them for later Radeon cards. Would make a change when it's time to build a new comp. Scarthy © ® ™ Posted January 12, 2003 Report Share Posted January 12, 2003 W O W ! ! ! :D :D :D I have just flashed my cards BIOS and re-installed the "built by" Catalyst 3.0 drivers from ATI...I have then done 1 run of 3DMark2001SE in default set-up........my score was 8481 ! ! ! :lol: That is 300+ increase on my score before doing the flash... I am now awaiting an email from a friend in Holland who is going to tell me how to clock the card to run faster. His is running at 281/300 and is stable ! ! ! Ordep, I'm always itching for a tinker with my system (PC that is - ooer). :blink: There can sometimes be tremendous gains had from such a relatively simple process as updating graphics card driver. I know with GF4 titanium version, changing from 30.xxs to 40.xx+ enabled some of the card's hardware features to operate much more effieciently, and as envisioned.Scarthy, I think the first number is your gpu, and the second, memory clock settings. At least that's what I've been doing...A good overlcocking utility I find, is Rivatuner. However there are millions of highly technical settings, even in the novice settings section. It does a good job and reports clock settings very accurately, as well as maintaining them. Important to just set clock parametres from just one place (you'll find you can do it from a variety of locations).Anyhow, you can get it (compatible with ATI cards?), from http://www.guru3d.com Thinking about it, that's what the guy from futuremark (mad onion) uses to overclock his radeon 9700 pro card, so it must be compatible.Little by little is the way to clock a card. Then, up it incrementally till either performance or visual appearance deteriorates. Then set them back. This being for anyone unsure of o/cing.Hate any kind of firmware/bios flashing. Scarthy © ® ™ Posted January 12, 2003 Report Share Posted January 12, 2003 Hi Spook Tooth....I know what you mean ;) I shook like made while doing it - anxiety and fear I think :lol: I have done the flashing twice now...Once with a file from Hercules (that I wasn't supposed to even receive) and this time. The process was very straight forward and the Flashing was automatic (a nice little batch file and Radeon flash)....Extremely painless...I now have to check some games to see if there is any improvement there also.....I have got Rage3DTweak from www.rage3d.com and RadClocker from http://www28.brinkster.com/chrisww1942/ I am going to do a bit more research before I venture into it fully - I am quite satisfied with my untweaked score.I have a question about the new Cat3.0 drivers??? Has anyone else installed them? If so have you had any improvement with 3DMark2001SE??? I ask because I want to know how much of this performance increase is due to the flashing and how much to the drivers?
