safe mode and deep freeze

Hi,

I have problem with PC in library, so it is not mine, I don't have installation CD, etc. It is windows XP.

Today I visited library and I saw some software for remote control (dameware or something like it). I got opinion that maybe some hacker installed it and I wanted to remove it.

I knew that all PCs are with deep freeze software (to freeze PC and to let users to be administrators so users can install what they want, after restarting of PC everything is like before). So I know password and I opened DeepFreeze and I made it to be unfreezed/unfrozen one time after next restarting. so I restarted PC and it was not frozen/freezed. Then I disabled DameWare and then I removed all files of DameWare. Problem is that I did it in "safe mode" (run, msconfig, boot.ini, safe mode) and when I restarted PC I got problem. I saw that PC will be restarted always in safe mode.

It means that DeepFreeze make problem, I think so.

When I set deepfreeze to be unfrozen only 1 time, and I restarted in safe mode, PC stayed now always in safe mode.

I tried to delete deep freeze but no chance. It is in folder Programms again every time when I restart PC. and again PC is always in safe mode. Of course I tried again with msconfig to uncheck safe mode, but nothing, problem is still there.

I checked processes but there is writen that deep freeze server is stopped. but as I said when I tried to delete folder with deep freeze, no chance, it is again there after restarting.

When I tried to run deep freeze in order to make it again unfrozen, no chance, PC says that this programm can't be started in safe mode.

I would like to ask here if someone has experience, I would like to know how to correct such problem. my opinion is that deep freeze push PC to stay in safe mode... but maybe I am wrong...

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

Sorry, I don't know what 'Deep Freeze' is, so I can't help you with this.

Do I understand you correctly, your main problem is that you cannot boot other than Safe Mode? If so, try to get the boot menu (tapping F8 before Windows starts loading), then select 'Start Windows normally'. Does that work?

yes, problem is that windows xp start again and again in safe mode, even I changed to be normal start (msconfig, boot.ini, uncheck safe mode or msconfig, general, normal start).

no F8 didn't help. I tried F11 (system recovery) but nothing is happening.

so I think that problem is deep freeze which froze windows in safe mode. but it is very hard to uninstall deep freeze... I didn't succeed to do it.

Deep Freeze restores a image of the hard drive at startup.

I'm no expert but I have tried deep freeze a few time, I have yet to find a way to stop it :D.

If you think that a hacker has been on it I really wouldn't recommend keeping the pc as it is, I recommend reinstalling everything if they have installed something on the system it is more than likely keylogged very common for public computers.

Deep Freeze shouldn't be pushing the computer to run in safe mode, I recommend calling up their tech support team though.
